The Hotel

At the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel, we offer two accessible rooms—room 316 and room 416. Each room has modified layouts and accessible furniture to accommodate the needs of individuals with limited mobility. Room 316 provides a tub with additional grab bars. Room 416 offers a roll-in shower for easier wheelchair accessibility.

The accessible rooms at the Bar Harbor Grand provide the same amenities as the standard rooms.

All main entry doors at the Bar Harbor Grand are ADA compliant—there are no steps and easy entry/exit is possible with extra-large, auto-opening entrance doors, equipped with push-button-operation.

Pool

The pool at the Bar Harbor Grand is equipped with an accessible lift that meets the following requirements: 

  • Minimum Lifting Capacity of 300 lbs.
  • Solid seat at least 16” in width. 
  • Foot rests.
  • Can be operated, without assistance, from the deck and water. 
  • Operation and use does not require tight grasping, pinching or twisting of the wrists to operate.
  • Operation does not require more than 5 lbs of pressure.  

 

Elevator

The elevators at the Bar Harbor Grand meet the following accessibility requirements:

  • Doors remains fully open for at least three seconds.
  • Call buttons are a minimum of 0.75 inches in diameter.
  • Button heights are centered 42 inches from the floor.  
  • Emergency call button to Front Desk. 
  • Elevator is at least 51 inches deep and at least 68 inches wide.
  • Door width is at least 36 inches. 

Lobby Restroom

The Lobby Restroom meets the accessibility spacial requirements and is equipped  with a large entry door and grab bars.

Additional accessible areas in the Bar Harbor Grand include the Main Lobby, Breakfast area, Laundry area, and Fitness Rooms.
